Putting God First

Deuteronomy 31:8  “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

I remember this passage when I fall. I am a recovering addict and I as a single mom feel afraid that I am not doing right by my children and I feel discouraged when I don’t feel I am doing a great job for myself and for my children. I have worried that I am not a great mom and that I am not able to do what is good for myself. I know that loving God and getting into the word are things I need to do. I also put God first in my household instead of making it all about everyone else but me. I am worried and discouraged that I am not doing enough.

I would like you all to think about how much time you spend worrying and not putting God above all things and wondering if you are not enough.  Feeling discouraged or afraid that you are not doing enough for others and in reality you are not doing enough good God.

I challenge you to sit for about 5 minutes a day and reflect on all of the things that you have worried about that you aren’t doing enough in and the things that make you afraid or discouraged and see if you put God first in those things you are worried about. See what things you can hand over to God that you haven’t yet. See if those worries feel lighter knowing that God is before you and with you.
