Holy Week Calls Us To Remember
Holy Week begins by shouting, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David! Hosanna in the highest heaven!”
It ends with shouting, “He is risen! He is risen indeed!”
We as Christians love to celebrate and glorify the King of kings, our Resurrected Savior. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that! But what happens when we jump from the heights of Palm Sunday to the even higher heights of Easter Sunday is we forget the in between.
We forget why Jesus came to this earth, why He entered in triumph only to carry a cross on His bloodied, flesh-torn back.
We forget that all of our hearts have cried out, “Crucify Him.”
Holy Week calls us to remember.
To remember the table.
To remember the cross.
To remember the cost.
So don’t skip the in between.
Come to Maundy Thursday and receive communion.
Come to Good Friday and sit in the weight of the cross.
Step into Easter Eggstravaganza on Saturday and share the gospel with those who need Jesus.
And then come to Easter Sunday - not just ready to celebrate, but understanding why the resurrection matters.
Because “He is risen” means everything when we remember why He died.
