More Than Green

Have you ever thought anymore about St. Patrick’s Day other than a day of green, green and oh – more green!  I hadn’t until this week and decided to check into it a little more. This day actually celebrates Patrick’s day of death. This man was born and raised in a Christian home but refused to accept his parent’s faith. He was kidnapped at the age of 16 and sold into slavery in Ireland. It was during this time of slavery that he accepted Jesus as his Savior and became a man of prayer. After escaping and returning to his homeland, he accepted the call into ministry and became a missionary to those that enslaved him.

I found it interesting that it took him hitting the bottom to turn to God. How many of us have done that? Why does it take the trials and tribulations of life to make God real in our lives? For some, we have to be tested before we understand that God is the only true answer.

Let’s take this day to make sure we are where we’re supposed to be and not let the hard times make our decisions for us. What will our legacy of faith be? Will we be obedient to God and what he directs us to do? Will we love all – not just the ones who we consider “worthy”? You may not change the world, but you will make a difference in those that you reach.

Ephesians 4:11-13 – So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
