Your Story for His Purpose

Your past may have shaped you, but it does not have to define you. There may have been seasons of your youth filled with poor choices, struggles, and moments you wish you could change. But God has a way of taking the broken pieces of our lives and creating something new. Scripture reminds us in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: the old has gone, the new is here!” Your story is not simply about where you have been, it is about where God is leading you.

Well into adulthood, I finally made the decision and a commitment to turn my life around. Finding Jesus was not in my plans, specifically I focused on becoming more responsible financially and in my behavior. I owed it to my family, I owed it to my friends, and I owed it to myself.

Somewhere along that journey, I discovered something greater than simply becoming a better man, I discovered God. This is the beauty of grace. God doesn't wait for us to have everything together before He calls us His own. He meets us where we are, forgives what lies behind us, and gives us the strength to walk forward. My testimony is proof that no past is too messy, no mistake is too great, and no life is too far gone for God's grace to reach.

Now, your life can become a testimony to others who may still be trapped in the places you once knew. The person you are today can show others what God can do when someone surrenders their life to Him. Keep moving forward, keep trusting God, and never be ashamed of the story He has brought you through. As Philippians 1:6 says, “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion.” God didn't just rescue you from your past, He is using your story for His purpose.
