God’s Insight and Timing
For the past couple of weeks, I have gotten back into doing a daily devotion. It had been years, too many to count really, that I had done a devotional. Biblicalpathway.com defines devotion as “a deep, steadfast love and commitment to God”. Me getting back into doing devotionals really came as a question from Pastor Lou. He asked, who is someone I would be willing to mentor? Well, that threw me for a loop because I didn’t feel like I was in any place to be a mentor. But, I was willing to BE mentored. So I found a devotional partner. I almost felt bad asking because I didn’t want to be a “burden”.
As I was looking for Bible verses to reference “burden” I turned to Matthew 11:28-30.
"Come to me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
It just so happens, that when I opened my Bible to this scripture I found an old bulletin. “Leaving The Old Baggage In The Old Year.” I smiled because that is a bulletin from one of the very first sermons that Pastor Lou preached at One Hope. I never keep bulletins, but God knew it would be a full circle moment for me. God is so good. I loved hearing Pastor Lou preach back then, I knew he would be amazing at One Hope, Pastor is the one who was the catalyst for me to start reading devotionals again and then a God wink when I opened my bible.
You don’t have to be a mentor or mentee to read a devotional, but I think it is safe to say that for me and my journey, Pastor Lou is exactly what my spiritual journey needed. It is through God’s love, patience and all knowing that brought me to this moment.
I am now building a deeper relationship with God, my prayer partner and I am speaking about God’s word now more than ever.
God’s insight and timing is amazing, isn’t it?
