Worship Team Ministry

It’s more than a song. It’s the Reason we sing!

Mission and Vision

At One Hope Church of the Nazarene, our mission is Loving God, Serving Others, and Growing Together. The worship ministry exists to live that mission out through music and leadership.

Our worship team mission is simple:

“It’s more than a song. It’s the reason we sing.”

Worship is not filler. It is not performance. It is spiritual formation. Every note, lyric, transition, and prayer moment is an opportunity to help people love God more deeply.

We call the worship band Grace Upon Grace. The name Grace Upon Grace comes from John 1:16 — and it also reflects who we are. We are not professionals. We are servants. We extend grace freely to one another as we grow together in excellence and humility.

Our Why.

We believe worship is serving with purpose through authentic praise. We gather each week not to showcase talent, but to create space for people to encounter Jesus.

We serve because...

God is worthy.

People can encounter Him through worship.

The songs we lead become praise and prayers.

We strive to give God our best — not because He demands perfection, but because He deserves intentionality. We lead others by first being worshipers ourselves.

Leadership Structure

Joining the team

Serving on the worship team begins with faithfully being part of the church body. We ask those interested in joining to attend at least three out of four Sundays each month for four consecutive months before stepping into a serving role. This allows faithful commitment and consistency at One Hope to be represented, space to build relationships, understand the culture of One Hope, and grow spiritually within the church community.

Following that season, a conversation with the Worship Pastor will help determine readiness and team fit.

New members will serve alongside experienced team members during a season of intentional growth and integration. Our goal is unity, trust, and spiritual alignment. Character and commitment matter more than perfection.

Our desire is that every team member leads from a heart fully surrendered to God, giving Him the glory and embracing the culture, unity, and expectations we’ve committed to as a team.

At times, it may be necessary to pause or adjust someone’s participation on the team. Any such decision would be handled privately, prayerfully, and with compassion. Our heart is always restoration, growth, and the health of both the individual and the ministry as a whole.

Serving on the Worship Team requires both calling and demonstrated musical or technical proficiency. Team members should be at least a freshman in high school before joining, with the exception of Family Worship Sundays when younger participants may occasionally serve. While we celebrate every heart that desires to serve, this ministry may not be the right fit for everyone. If so, our leaders will gladly help you discover other meaningful ways to use your gifts within the church.
