Honoring a Faithful Shepherd & Welcoming a New One
One Hope Church Family,
This Sunday marks a meaningful moment in the life of our church. Tomorrow will be the final Sunday serving with us for our interim pastor, Bob Flint. Over this past season, Pastor Bob has shepherded us with wisdom, faithfulness, and a steady heart. He stepped in during a time of transition and cared for this church family with humility and love. We have also been richly blessed by his incredible, Spirit-filled preaching, which has challenged us, strengthened our faith, and helped us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus. I want to encourage you to prayerfully consider how you might thank him - through a kind word, a note or card, or simply taking time to express your gratitude for the ways he has served and led us.
Next Sunday, we will celebrate a new beginning as we welcome our new lead pastor, Lou Reyes. We will be having a carry-in meal together after the service to help us connect, celebrate, and extend a warm welcome. Please plan to bring a dish to share if you are able. We will also have opportunities to help him as he moves to our community, so be on the lookout in the coming days for ways you can get involved. Let’s be intentional about extending warmth, grace, and hospitality so that he and his family feel at home from the very start.
Scripture reminds us, “Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them - not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock” (1 Peter 5:2–3). What a gift it is to be cared for by faithful shepherds. This is a beautiful moment for us to honor the one who has served us well and joyfully welcome the one God has called to lead us next.
Thank you for being a church that loves deeply and supports faithfully.
Grace and peace,
One Hope Church Board and Staff
