Never Lose Love
Romans 9:2-4a – “I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. For I could wish that I myself were cursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers, those of my own race, the people of Israel.”
This expression of great sorrow is directly preceded by Romans 8; one of the most pointed and beautiful declarations of the joy we receive when we enter into a covenant with our Creator through the work of Jesus the Messiah. By faith we live in a Kingdom designed by God for authentic humans (those living free from the sin that enslaves us).
While that Kingdom will come when heaven and earth are destroyed, making way for a new heaven and a new earth, by faith, we live in the Kingdom of heaven now. Much like Paul mourned his people as they fought the potter’s will for them, we too find ourselves in deep sorrow when we see so much of the world around us living as less than full human reflections of our Creator. We shouldn’t be surprised when the world acts like the world, but I pray we never lose the love for those around us such that we stop mourning for them. Today, think about how you can help someone around you be a true Kingdom person.
