Disciples of Right Now

There's something special about camp.

The games are over. The cabins are empty. The songs have faded, and everyone has gone home. But the work God started? That's just beginning.

This past week at district Kids Camp, 25 children made the decision to follow Jesus. That's not just 25 names on a report. That's 25 testimonies that will be shared in homes, schools, churches, and communities. If you've ever spent time with kids, you know they love to tell stories. And when Jesus changes their hearts, they're going to tell that story too.

That's why I believe kids aren't just the disciples of the next generation - they're the disciples of right now. When we invest in children, we're investing in today's Church.

I know that's true because I lived it. I accepted Jesus when I was young, but I learned to love Him more deeply at a camp just like this one. I came back year after year, eventually served as a junior counselor, and this summer I had the incredible privilege of leading games/quizzing rotations and preaching in two chapel services.

That's what camp does. God uses one week to change a life, and then He spends a lifetime writing the story.

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me..." (Mark 10:14). He never saw children as "someday" followers. He welcomed them, valued them, and called them to Himself.

So let's keep investing in kids. Let's keep praying for them, encouraging them, and pointing them to Jesus. Because you never know what God might do through one child who says "yes" to Him. Their testimony may just impact a family, a church, a community...or even generations to come.
