Advent invites us to rediscover joy—not just as a feeling, but as an outflow of God’s work in our lives and the lives of others. This week, we reflect on the joy that comes when love transforms into action, as seen through Nazarene Compassionate Ministries.

Last year, through the power of bell ringing, we raised over $30,000, helping the Salvation Army provide over $42,000 in assistance to individuals and families in need. Let’s do it again—and even more—with your help!

The world glorifies busyness, but Jesus modeled something countercultural: rest. In Mark 4:38, we see Jesus in the middle of a storm, asleep on a cushion in the boat. His disciples were panicking, but Jesus? He trusted God so deeply that He rested—even when chaos surrounded Him. Jesus took naps. Be like Jesus.

As I heard the report about this weekend's Teen Fall Retreat, my heart was so full of gratitude for 1st, our Awesome God and 2nd, to the amazing men who stepped up to lead.

Raising up prayers and support for our world is a beautiful part of living as the Kingdom of God. Here’s an update from Nazarene Compassionate Ministries on the ongoing relief efforts in the Philippines:

Being missionally minded and community connected is at the very heart of how Jesus ministered and shared hope with the world. This past Saturday was filled conversations with individuals and families who are seeking a place to belong and grow.

I love finding, purchasing, and giving the perfect gift! I remember the year I received a flute from my mom. It was stunning, but without breath, it was just a lifeless instrument. Only when I blew air into it did the beautiful music come alive. That’s what the Holy Spirit does for us.

This weekend, we experienced an incredible outpouring of support from our church and community as we gathered to help those in crisis. Together, we collected and packed nearly 1,000 Crisis Care Kits and School Pal Paks, many of which will be sent to those affected by the devastation of Hurricane Helene.

Today, let's celebrate the beauty of the Church of the Nazarene in Springfield, Ohio. A new Haitian church has been launched at Springfield High Street, and each week over 125 people gathered together to worship. This is more than just a number; it's a community coming together, finding hope, and sharing life.

What an incredible day we had on Sunday, September 15th! The launch of One Hope Church of the Nazarene was not just a celebration of a new name, but a declaration of God’s faithfulness and the exciting journey ahead.

As I sit at my kitchen table, worshiping along with Charity Gayle’s New Name Written Down in Glory, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for what Jesus has done in my life and in the lives of so many others. Her line, “I met the author of my story, and He’s mine, yes, He’s mine” inspires hope, knowing that Jesus, who writes each of our stories, is still at work today, writing new ones.

This week marks 3 years I have been a pastor on staff with our local congregation. I've been serving as a leader in our church for 5 years and have loved this beautiful journey. When looking back at all God has done, the greatest thing I reflect upon is what He has accomplished in each and every one of you.

Prayer is more than just words; it is a powerful connection to the heart of God. It instills in us a desire to see God's Kingdom come and His will be done in all things.

Each time I share the title of our current sermon series, my mind wanders to a the catchy tune from 1965 ...What does the world need now? Let's see if the lyrics come to you. 

Kids camps were this past week and I watched 300 children learn how to shine the light of Jesus to those around them!

I've been praying for transformation lately. "God, transform me into the likeness of You. May all that is within me glorify You alone."

Our mission theme this year is, “Try the other side,” and the challenge is to realize that whatever we do, the focus must remain to share Jesus and see lives changed forever.

What is your direction? How can you better balance the way you serve the Lord? the church? How can you better balance your life?

I knew they were struggling. I knew they were broken. I knew they needed encouragement and the hope of Jesus. I knew, and I sat back.
