Just a daycare?
Colossians 3:17 – “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus.”
If I could sit down and talk to Hannah from ten years ago—to tell her she’d be married to the most amazing man, have a baby on the way, and be running a daycare—I don’t think she would believe me.
If I told her how much God would provide and how faithful He would be, I’m not sure she could have pictured it. But that’s the thing about God: His plans are always bigger than what we imagine.
Now I find myself in the middle of it all. Daycare days are full. Someone is always sick. A kid is having a hard day. A parent has questions and just needs reassurance. Sometimes I get so caught up in the details that I forget to stop and look at the bigger picture.
Because it’s not just a daycare.
Every second is a chance to show the love of Jesus. To comfort a child who may not have had a hug since they left last week. To listen to a teacher who feels overwhelmed. To tell a parent, “You’re doing a great job.”
I recall being told as a child that growing pains are painful. That’s true—and not just physically. Growth in life and leadership can be painful, too. But in those hard places, God teaches us. He gives grace daily. And one of the biggest lessons He’s still teaching me is patience.
I thank Him for His daily grace. And one of the biggest lessons He’s teaching me—again and again—is patience. I can let one little raindrop spiral into a storm in my head. But when I stop, breathe, and ask that old but powerful question, What would Jesus do?—it shifts everything.
So, no, it’s not just a daycare. It’s a chance every single day to reflect on Jesus. To offer His love, His peace, His presence. To turn the ordinary into something holy.
And I’m so thankful He put me right here.
